I agree with you that using some additives too often can result in gumming, however, as they say, all things in moderation....LOL I only add something when needed, and use carb cleaner every other oil change. The STP I was referring to isn't the carb cleaner product that they offer, it's the STP Gas Treatment, which helps get rid of water, etc. in your gas. This REALLY helps when you are on the road and unable to safely and properly drain your tank. Just a tip to help git'er on down the road. :)
